Role

UX/UI Designer

Problem

Many online jewelry stores suffer from:

• Overcrowded product pages
• Lack of brand storytelling
• Poor visual hierarchy
• Friction during product exploration

These issues reduce emotional engagement and can negatively affect conversions.

The challenge was to design a website that:

  • Makes products visually irresistible

  • Guides users effortlessly through the shopping journey

  • Builds trust with a premium aesthetic

  • Maintains simplicity across devices

Competitor Analysis

To understand the jewelry eCommerce landscape, I studied several leading brands to identify common UX patterns and opportunities for differentiation.

Key Competitors

  • Pandora

  • Tiffany & Co.

  • Mejuri

  • Swarovski

Observations

  1. Minimalist Design
Most successful jewelry brands use clean layouts that allow the product imagery to dominate the page.

  2. Large Product Photography
High-resolution images create a premium feel and increase purchase confidence.

  3. Storytelling & Branding
Jewelry brands emphasize lifestyle storytelling rather than purely transactional shopping.

  4. Simplified Navigation
Clear product categories help users quickly find items.

Opportunity Identified

Many jewelry websites still feel catalog-heavy and transactional.
Braceland aims to introduce a more modern, editorial-style shopping experience that feels immersive and premium.

Moodboard

The visual direction focused on creating a luxury-meets-modern aesthetic.

Design Inspirations

  • Premium fashion brand websites

  • Editorial fashion photography

  • Luxury product showcases

  • Soft neutral color palettes

Visual Style

  • Clean typography

  • Minimal layouts

  • Soft shadows and spacing

  • Focus on product photography

The goal was to make the website feel like a luxury boutique rather than a product catalog.

Design Iteration

The design process involved multiple stages to refine usability and aesthetics.

1. Wireframing

Low-fidelity wireframes were created to define:

  • Page structure

  • Product grid layout

  • Navigation flow

  • Content hierarchy

This stage focused on user journey clarity before adding visual design.

2. Layout Exploration

Several layout options were explored for:

  • Product listing sections

  • Hero areas

  • Promotional banners

  • Category highlights

Different spacing systems and grid structures were tested to find the most balanced composition.

Design Kit & Delivery

Color Palette

The color palette was selected to reflect elegance, simplicity, and sophistication.

Primary colors include:

Soft Neutral Background
Used to create a calm browsing environment.

Dark Accent Color
Used for text, CTAs, and emphasis.

Muted Gold / Warm Accent
Adds a subtle luxurious feel aligned with jewelry branding.

The restrained palette ensures that products remain the visual focus.

Typography

Typography plays a major role in creating a premium feel.

Heading Typeface

A modern serif-style font was used to convey elegance and luxury.

Body Typeface

A clean sans-serif font ensures readability and clarity across devices.

This pairing balances editorial sophistication with digital usability.

To maintain consistency across the website, a reusable component system was created.
